This is not a beginner project, even though the braid itself is not difficult. You will want to already have used a Kumihimo disk and worked with beads and cords to get the most enjoyment from this project.
Fully beaded strands are traditionally braided on a wooden Japanese stand called a marudai. This tutorial provides guidance on how to create a hollow braid with fully beaded strands but using a foam disk.
