This is an advanced beginner to intermediate kit due to the different weights of the braiding materials.
Attach a front-to-back drilled, unique and handmade Raku pendant to supple soutache cords, add S-Lon cords and seed beads (seed beads and collapsible eye needle are included) and braid into a beautiful necklace.
Finished length will range based on your tension, but you can expect enough material for a braid 18" to 22". An acrylic, magnetic glue-in clasp is included and will add approximately 1" to your piece.
NOTE: If you prefer a different color of soutache, seed beads, or clasp finish than shown, just send me a note and it is easily changed. There are very many color options that will work with each beautiful Raku piece!
These instructions were updated in October 2024 to reflect an alternate method of attaching the pendant as some soutache is slightly heavier and can be difficult to fit.
Materials included in kit:
- Raku Pendant
- Large Hole bead
- 4 – 58" pieces of soutache
- 4 – 50" S-Lon Tex210 cords
- Scrap piece of stringing wire
- Minimum 120 – Size 8 seed beads
- Collapsible Eye Needle
- 2 – Size 6 Stop Beads
- Acrylic Magnetic Clasp 6.25ID
Tools required but not included in kit:
- Kumihimo Foam Disk
- 1 silicone bobbin
- Regular GatorWeight™ - or similar weight (87g)
- Binding method materials (FireLine, needle) for braid ends
- Two-Part Epoxy or other suitable adhesive
- Painter's Tape (optional)
